About COUCH

Hi Everyone,

Ameer here.  I own “couch”.  Since what is a store, especially in it’s infancy, but it’s proprietor, I guess you need to know about me.  I believe in deals.  I shop like CRAZY on Ebay for replacement heads for my Sonicare toothbrush.  I visited what seemed like every last store in Alderwood before buying my TV.  My friends are ALL telling me i’m not charging enough of a markup.  Standard for the big boys in the industry is 100% or more which makes me angry like $6 popcorn at Ironman.  So here’s my plan.  I’m going to keep the margins genuinely skinny- like scary skinny.  I’m going to rely on Craigslist and word of mouth for marketing.  I’m sharing space with the Orange Splot gallery and splitting rent to cut costs.  I’m doing my own deliveries.  I’m charging customers cost for having seating trucked up from California.  I’m not charging a “design surcharge” if a customer wants to have a piece made to custom dimensions.  And I’m going to be known as the place to go in Seattle for stylish, custom, earth friendly seating at prices that are genuine deals.  After all, I believe in deals.

Thanks to all the folks who came through for me in a pinch.  Thanks to Eric for using his ninja graphic design skills to make a store logo that looks like a million in exchange for a chicken beef combo from Yak’s Teriyaki.    Thanks to Kris for hanging up the signage even when I couldn’t be there to help him.  Thanks to my mom and Scott for helping me finance this.  Thanks to Caiti for giving me the idea– and giving me a couch to stay on while I was meeting in LA with my supplier. Thanks to Jon and Willi for their encouragement.  Thanks to my sis for being the coolest lil girl I know.  Thanks to my granny (the inimitable Nany) for keeping me in her prayers every morning and night.  I feel like I’ve gotten lucky a LOT lately, so maybe she’s got something to do with it.  And thanks to the Universe.  You know that part in high fidelity where Cusack realizes owning a little record store is perhaps what he really wants to be doing with his life.  This is that moment for me.

  • Hello! Do you sell what is in your store or do all pieces custom ordered first? I love the designs and the fact that your earth friendly but the most impressive is the all around integrity. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Vivian

  • Hi Vivian–
Tried to email you back but it bounced back. How very sad:( Anyways, thanks so much for your compliments. I will have occasional floor model sales, but most of the time I will have to order for you so I can keep the items on the floor.

  • Hi, found your stuff off of craigslist. I was wondering if you do any couches like the Lancaster leather couch. If so What kind of leather would you use and can you get the dark esspresso color. Made in the USA
    Kiln-dried hardwood
    Eight-way, hand-tied spring suspension
    Double-doweled frame
    Corner-blocked joinery
Cushions are backed in plush fabric which allows leather to breathe for sink-in comfort
Comes with down-encased foam seat cushions; down-blend back cushions
Our premium Brompton Cocoa hand-tanned Italian leather is a natural material with inherent variations in color and texture that make each piece unique. The leather, finished with wax and oils for superior suppleness, will develop a rich, burnished patina and vintage look over time.
Sports a depth of almost 4′ and a length of nearly 8′
    Dimensions: 94″W x 47″D x 39″H

Oh yeah what might the price be if you can make this.
    Thanks Heidi

  • Hi there,
Do you make custom slip covers? I would like to have a summer and winter set made for 2 matching sofas but don’t want to pay as much for the slip cover as a new couch, which is what I am running into.

    Thanks
    Moriah

  • Hi Moriah,
Unfortunately, since my factory is in LA, custom slip covers are impossible. Sorry:(
