FAQs

Do you sell just couches or other furniture as well?

We do sofas, chairs, sectionals, chaises, and upholstered beds, all in dimensions you choose to fit your space.

Do you sell off the floor or custom order everything?

On occasion we will be selling floor models, however a vast majority of the time we’ll be taking orders. Lead time is 6-8 weeks.

Do you have fabrics to choose from?
We’ve got dozens of fabrics available in scores of colors. Anything we make can be made in any of the fabrics we carry. We might make a suggestion or two, but in the end, we’re building the couch the customer wants, not one a design magazine thinks the customer wants.

How much is customization? If a couch comes 84 inches long standard, will it cost me more to have it made only 81 inches long so it fits in a nook in my basement?

We only charge for labor and materials. Shrinking something shouldn’t cost anything. Making something bigger won’t cost very much at all. For instance if you like a couch but want one made that’s 10 inches longer and four inches deeper for a truly monster sized couch, you’re still only looking at an increase of less than $350. Try finding that kind of flexibility and value somewhere else.

Can you recover my old couch?

Since my factory is in California, unfortunately I don’t do reupholstery.  The logistics become nightmarish.

Why are your prices so low?  What’s wrong with these couches?  You can’t really be selling a $2750 Restoration Hardware design for $1600 unless something is wrong with it– seeeriously wrong.

Nothing is wrong with my couches.  I use the same grade of wood, same foam, same fabrics, that the mall stores do.  These are REAL couches built to last years by extremely skilled carpenters and upholsterers.  You’ve heard it before but this time it’s actually true:  It’s all about overhead.  My rent is cheaper because my store is only 13oosf compared to the 4000 most furniture stores have.  Couch has only one employee.  I work seven days a week, 30 days a month (except when there’s 31).  When you come to the store it will be me talking you through the fabrics and styles.  When the truck comes up from LA, it will be me helping the driver unload.  Following that, I’ll be the guy putting your couch into my creepy thousand dollar Ford van and I’ll also be the guy sweating it up your stairs.  If it needs doing, I’m the guy doing it.  For all intents and purposes– I AM COUCH– and that’s why prices are low.

  • Do you only do couches for people in your area? I am looking for a double sided couch made out of a comfortable, durable material, but I am in Kansas!

    Thanks,
    Jen

  • Hi Jen,
Shipping can be arranged straight from my factory in LA to anywhere in the country.

  • Do you also offer leather selections? We are looking for a leather sectional and live in the Seattle area.

    • Hi Aimee,
Though I started out with no leather I’ve brought on a leather supplier. Archetype out of Los Angeles is a prototype shop names such as Pottery Barn and Zgallerie partner with to develop new pieces. They’re some of the best custom furniture buiders in the biz, and while not cheap, I can still usually undercut mall store prices and deliver design center quality.
